SIXTY PLUS DATEBOOK Cancer walk

Sometimes you just want to hang around with friends. It was a hot and muggy day today, but donations  of more than a hundred dollars made it easier to get out and get moving. It was the first day of Fall, and finally the Puget Sound area is getting ready for summer. How like us. Do without a Starbucks coffee Buy housebrand cereal (you won't like it) Walk in the neighborhood … [Read more...] about SIXTY PLUS DATEBOOK Cancer walk

Sixty Plus Yippee Skippee

Quick note from Dorothy: What's going right.  This section is dedicated to the good things that are going right every where we go. We have a tendency to miss the good things and focus on the bad ones.  Playground at Chambers Bay For instance, hundreds of volunteers are working at Chambers Bay to build a special playground for the kids.  The land is donated. Sixty Plus Datebook Making Strides Against Cancer

Looking out over the park

Today my training walk for the Making Strides Against Cancer 5K walk  took me to Steilacoom Park and the old Western State Hospital.  It was a good day for walking - although the temperature was in the mid-70's there was no sun. And luckily not too many people to see struggling along and drenched in persperation in a way my Daddy would have considered most unladylike.  The … [Read more...] about Sixty Plus Datebook Making Strides Against Cancer

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

I'm spending a lot of time getting ready for the  Strides Against Breast Cancer 5K walk on October 2. 5K - That's oh, let's see about 3 miles.  I can do that.  I'm pleased and proud that my Grand daughter Shondra has organized her team.  The fact is, all of us have been touched by cancer, so I'm shamelessly  hitting my friends up to join in supporting us on the walk.  If you … [Read more...] about Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

Sixty Plus Date Book: Making New Friends

Sixty plus or twenty five, a girl can't have too many friends.

My granddaughter went off to college last week, and the first thing she did when got to her new apartment was to displace a mouse which seemed to be living there.  She said it was so tame she could catch it by the tail to put it in a covered dish for safekeeping. She displayed it on Facebook with the title, "Making New Friends",  Grandmother stifled the urge to tell her it was … [Read more...] about Sixty Plus Date Book: Making New Friends

Sixty Plus Datebook – A most unusual day

Sixty Plus Datebook: a deer friend

I looked out the window awhile ago and two deer were walking past - and I mean right past. They had been on the porch eating the flowers, which they seem to look upon as a sort of chips and dips.  Then, feeling happy, they strolled on over to the neighbors' house, to see what was on offer there.  I guess my point is, that you don't have to be lonely. You can always eat the … [Read more...] about Sixty Plus Datebook – A most unusual day
