Dynamic Speaker...Joyful Living...It's Never Too Late

Traveling with disabilities and wonderful Easy Walks walks mapped out by Marjorie Turner Hollman

Traveling with disabilities and wonderful Easy Walks walks mapped out by Marjorie Turner Hollman have been part of our Swimming Upstream Radio Shows for more than ten years and they’ve always been practical and useful.

“I’d be happy to chat another time about winter walking–for non-snowy areas,” she wrote in 2020. ” I think it’s mostly a matter of the right clothes, water proof boots and rain gear. And yes, gore-tex is worth the money (and no,, I do not get paid to say that!–but perhaps I should 😉 ”

I have right on my desk right now, her book, Finding Easy Walks Wherever You Are as I’ve toyed with the idea of mapping such walks in the Pacific Northwest – a little harder because this is volcano country. But as we grow older and hiking, or walking gets harder. it’s a real pleasure to have a friend to walk with who will offer no-nonsense advice along the way.

So I shouldn’t have been surprised to learn that Marjorie has developed a self publishing company to give people a chance to get the word out to everyone who should hear it. From world audiences to writing the family story for the grandchildren.

Here’s how Marjorie says it:

Here’s my gift to you! Self-publishing 101

Marjorie helps changemakers turn their experiences into professionally self-published books. Her team supports everything from editing to print-on-demand setup and can connect clients with trusted PR partners for launches. She’s a great resource for amplifying your message through
publishing.

What seems important to me is that in the opportunities that Marjory provides is the chance to tell the family story and put it happily in the desk. Now we all know, the grand children won’t read the stories – right now – but one day they will and what a gift to have a friend like Marjory to point you in the right direction – and an important point is that she’ll work with you to find those easy walks in your area and perhaps get your own book in print.

If you’re interested in self-publishing and the opportunities it provides, you can find Marjory at MarjorieTurner.com and while we’re at it, it turns out that one of our very frequent guests, Lesia Alexander worked with Marjorie on her latest book.

“In the early phases of my book, I worked with Marjorie in her capacity as coach and developmental editor. Her help was indispensable. When I had a manuscript ready to go I once again sought Marjorie’s help. She was with me every step of the way to getting a book in hand – Everything from referrals for book designer and copy editor, to
getting the documents onto Amazon. She is knowledgeable, skilled, adept and was always available to help me with each phase of each of the moving pieces that are part of
publishing a book – for me by far the hardest part of the whole book process. Her kindness, compassion and practical support not only made it possible but smoothed the grueling moments and the way. I literally could not have done this without her help, help for which I am deeply grateful.”  — Lesia Alexander, author

What They Have to Tell Us: Messages from Animals

Now you may be wondering, why am I writing so much about Marjorie’s new business? Well it’s because all these years she’s been my friend who wrote about traveling with disabilities, and now she’s my friend who writes about self publishing. That’s wonderful. I hope you’ll enjoy getting to know Marjorie as much as I have. And remember that book we started last year? Maybe we can finish it.
